About the Events and Social Media Leader Position (Part-Time)
The Events and Social Media Leader position will be responsible for a variety of duties, including planning and execution of in-person events across the country and online webinars and hangouts for our membership, and managing the social media presence of UMA and our projects. Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Event Planning – 75%
- In-Person Events
- Assisting UMA and partner organizations in coordinating all event-related logistics, including but not limited to: venue and catering reservations, speaker confirmations, hotel and travel arrangements, photographers, videographers, etc.
- Coordinating logistics around graphic design of flyers and other physical materials
- Managing online registration systems
- Recruiting and supporting attendees
- Supporting speakers, presenters, and other event participants with all logistical requirements (i.e. presentation files)
- Creating all presentations and other day-of materials, as needed
- Online Events
- Managing online registration systems

- Supporting speakers, presenters, and other event participants with all logistical requirements (i.e. presentation files) leading up to and at the event
- Creating all presentations and other day-of materials, as needed
- Supporting and managing all practice and information sessions for presenters
- Running systems during webinars
- In-Person Events
- Social Media Presence – 25%
- For UMA as an organization and other client projects
- Creating, curating, and managing all published content on UMA Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms
- Developing a regular publishing schedule via a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely campaigns
- Managing UMA’s social media accounts at UMA events and events where UMA has a presence
- Working with UMA members and partners to develop a media library (photos, videos) for our use on social media and other platforms
- Regularly engaging with online community on our and their channels
- Monitoring peer organizations for trends, ideas, and connections
- Analyzing campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media
- Monitoring effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media campaigns
- For UMA as an organization and other client projects
Preferred skills include:
- Experience working on remote teams
- Relevant work experience as a coordinator or event support (open to candidates that have had significant internships) / Some demonstrated experience in events;
- Experience coordinating / managing events remotely a plus
- High comfort level with social media, online research, and Google App products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – as a remote workplace, communication is critical
- Ability to work independently with a high level of autonomy and responsiveness, ability to take initiative
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with multiple groups, including remote teams, and build strong personal networks across a complex, fast moving organization
- Strong organizational and project management skills; attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and multitask, and to positively contribute in a fast-paced and changing work environment
- Proactive, excited to learn new technologies
- Strong interest in urban manufacturing, community economic development, localism, and / or maker movement a plus

Details: This position is part time and temporary (3-6 months), with the potential to become permanent. Approximately 20 hours per week; $20/hour. Benefits not included at this time. Very flexible work schedule and place.
